Lee Moyer

Alove for the glories of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, the Arts and Crafts movement, propaganda art, and the pre-Raphaelites motivated this energetic Wyoming-born artist at the age of 18 to apprentice briefly with oil painter Carl Lundgren in NJ and share a studio with painter Stephen Hickman in VA, then go on to merge his oil and watercolor techniques with digital in ’89. Many family moves in youth, from the Black hills of SD to Arlington VA, saw him in town libraries poring over books on Howard Pyle, the Leyendeckers, Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parish, N C Wyeth, Charles Dana Gibson, and John R Neill. That, and years in design, illustration, painting, and art direction for all media and client categories have made Moyer a perfect fit for almost any project from vintage to comic-book, realistic to whimsical, romantic to animation style, with lettering and logos, too. The New York Times nominated him for a Webby in ’99, and his award-winning work has been featured in Spectrum, D’Artiste, Design Graphics Magazine, and at the Smithsonian’s natural history museum where he spent a decade as a docent and resident naturalist illustrator. Clients include Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Discovery Channel, Electronic Arts, Hasbro, Pharmacopeia, BET, McGraw hill, Philips Media, and the National Zoo. Moyer enjoys Portland OR where he resides with his photographer wife, Annaliese, and dog, Lego.
